What is iMEdD’s International Journalism Forum?

iMEdD's International Journalism Forum 2022 is the fourth edition of an annual gathering of journalists, initiated by iMEdD nonprofit journalism organization. Each year, journalists and media professionals from Greece and around the world come together to discuss new methods and tools, exchange ideas, address concerns and build a strong community in a bid for a better journalism.

What is the theme of iMEdD’s International Journalism Forum 2022?

In 2022 the Forum brings into focus the trust crisis in journalism, attempting to take a deeper look into the underlying causes and consequences of the issue, and come up with possible solutions. Renowned Greek and international speakers, journalists, media professionals, and the public will participate and share their experiences through a series of panel discussions, keynote speeches, specialized workshops, and much more.

When and where does the Forum take place?

iMEdD's International Journalism Forum "A Matter of Trust", which was scheduled to take place with physical presence in Athens on 11 & 12 February 2022, has been postponed due to the exceptional health conditions prevailing in Greece and internationally. iMEdD, with the aim of defending public health and always in relation to the latest epidemiological data, is going to hold the Journalism Forum at a later date within 2022 to be announced in the near future on the official website of the event. The location will be announced at a later stage too.

Who organises the Forum?

The Forum is organised by iMEdD (incubator for Media Education and Development). iMEdD is a nonprofit Journalism organisation founded in 2018, courtesy of a donation from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF). Its mission is to support and increase transparency, credibility, and independence in journalism, in an effort to promote excellence in the field.

What is the code of conduct for the Forum?

The organisers of iMEdD’s International Journalism Forum are strong believers in diversity and welcome participants regardless of race, color, creed, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, ancestry, citizenship status, or disability. Discrimination, sexual harassment, or other inappropriate conduct will not be tolerated and will be grounds for expulsion from the Forum.

How can I attend?

The Registration process will open again as soon as the new date is announced. It will be implemented on this website online and is free of charge.

Do I need to register?

Yes. All visitors are required to register online at least a day before the Forum kicks off.

Is there a registration fee?

No. iMEdD is a nonprofit organization and all iMEdD events, programs and initiatives are always free of charge.

Do I need to be a journalist to attend the Forum?

The Forum is mainly addressed to Journalists and Media Professionals from Greece and abroad. A selection process for members of the public to attend selected sessions, will take place through a separate procedure to be announced on this website.

Who are the Forum speakers?

The 2022 speaker list will become available online again as soon as the new date is announced.

What is the Forum schedule?

The 2022 programme will be posted online again as soon as the new date is announced. On the same time, the registration process will be re-activated.

Will other organisations be involved?

Yes, we have many partners getting involved in the Forum. During the Forum, you will also be able to connect with other organisations, media outlets, nonprofit newsrooms and NGOs participating in the Forum’s “networking village”. It’s a great place to link up with others, share ideas and find resources.

Will sessions be live-streamed?

Selected Forum sessions will be live-streamed. Live-streams will be available for viewing on the Forum’s website. All live-streamed sessions will feature a Watch-Live Button on the Agenda page.

Will sessions be available on-demand?

Yes. Selected sessions will be recorded and available for viewing after the event. Additional content, such as interviews and summary videos, will also become available after the Forum.

Will sessions be recorded?

All sessions are “on the record” and subject to being photographed, video/audio-recorded, screen captured, and live-streamed. Attendees, speakers and exhibitors may be captured via these formats. All Forum sessions, materials and activities are subject to recording and may be reproduced in part or whole, and distributed or used in any way.

What language will the sessions be conducted in?

All sessions will be conducted in Greek or English, depending on the session topic and speaker composition.

Will interpretation be provided?

Simultaneous English-Greek interpretation will be provided via headphones for all sessions. The language of each session will be indicated in the online programme and in the Forum brochure that all participants will receive upon their entry in the Forum venue.

Will internet access be provided?

Free WiFi will be provided for all attendees.
