What is the iMEdD International Journalism Forum (iIJF)?

iMEdD International Journalism Forum is the fifth edition of an annual gathering of journalists, initiated by iMEdD nonprofit journalism organization. Each year, journalists and media professionals from Greece and abroad come together to discuss new methods and tools, exchange ideas, address concerns and build a strong community in a bid for a better journalism.

In 2022, for 5 days and 38 sessions, 120 speakers and over 1k participants met to exchange experiences, opinions and knowledge.

What is the theme of iMEdD International Journalism Forum?

This year, the Forum will focus on latest trends and best practices on data journalism, collaborative and investigative journalism. Local news, media business models and social media platforms will be also at the spotlight. The preliminary agenda for the 2023 iMEdD International Journalism Forum will be published by May.

When and where does the Forum take place?

iMEdD International Journalism Forum will take place in Athens. The date and the venue will soon be announced.

Who organises the Forum?

The Forum is organised by iMEdD (incubator for Media Education and Development). iMEdD is a nonprofit Journalism organisation founded in 2018, courtesy of a donation from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF). Its mission is to support and increase transparency, credibility, and independence in journalism, in an effort to promote excellence in the field.

What is the code of conduct?

The iMEdD team strongly believe in diversity and welcome participants regardless the race, color, creed, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, ancestry, citizenship status, or disability. Discrimination, sexual harassment, or other inappropriate conduct will not be tolerated and will be grounds for expulsion from the Forum.

How can I attend?

Registration for all sessions will be open in May. Participation is free of charge.

Do I need to register?

Yes. All attendees are required to register online or on the spot. Registration for the workshops will open in September. All workshops require advance registration.

Is there a registration fee?

No. iMEdD is a nonprofit organization and all iMEdD events, programs and initiatives are always free of charge.

Do I need to be a journalist to attend?

The Forum is addressed to journalists (students or professionals) and media professionals from Greece and abroad.

Who will be the speakers?

Speakers will be announced in the following weeks. The list will be constantly updated.

What is the event schedule?

A draft 2023 programme will be available soon.

Will other organisations be involved?

Yes. We collaborate with many organizations from Greece and abroad on different levels (panel discussions, keynote speeches, specialized workshops, screenings, installations and much more). During iMEdD International Journalism Forum, you will be able to connect with organizations, media outlets, nonprofit newsrooms, and NGOs.

Will sessions be live-streamed?

Selected sessions will be live-streamed. Live-streams will be available for viewing on the event’s website. All live-streamed sessions will feature a Watch-Live Button on the Agenda page.

Will sessions be available on-demand?

Yes. Selected sessions will be recorded and available for viewing after the event. Additional content, such as interviews and summary videos, will also become available after the event.

Will sessions be recorded?

All sessions are “on the record” and subject to being photographed, video/audio-recorded, screen captured, and live-streamed. Attendees, speakers and exhibitors may be captured via these formats. All sessions, materials and activities are subject to recording and may be reproduced in part or whole, and distributed or used in any way.

In what language will the sessions be conducted?

All sessions will be conducted in Greek or/and English, depending on the session topic and speakers/instructors composition.

Will interpretation be provided?

Simultaneous English-Greek interpretation will be provided via headphones for all sessions. The language of each session will be indicated in the online programme.

Will internet access be provided?

Free WiFi will be provided for all attendees.
