- How to tell an audio story (led by Lesedi Mogoatlhe, Radio Workshop's Editorial Director): Discover the essential elements that make audio stories compelling—how to find good characters, establish a sense of place through sound, and structure plot arcs that captivate listeners from start to finish. We'll cover the crucial pre-production planning process, from story mapping and script development to sound design considerations, giving you a practical framework for crafting audio narratives that truly resonate.
- Interviewing for story (led by Dhashen Moodley, Radio Workshop's Senior Producer): Learn how to conduct interviews that get people telling stories—from planning the right questions to creating a comfortable space where guests open up and share compelling moments. You'll also discover how to review your recorded interviews and select the best clips and sound bites that will make it into your final edited story.
- Recording, audio editing, and all things technical (led by Mike Rahfaldt, Radio Workshop's Executive Producer): We'll discuss how to record high-quality audio while keeping your setup simple—covering essential equipment choices, common recording mistakes to avoid, and practical tips for capturing clean sound in different environments. You'll also learn some of our favorite audio editing tricks and tools that can transform your raw recordings into polished, professional-sounding stories.
