Center for Collaborative Investigative Journalism (CCIJ) convene and lead global investigations that are grounded in strategic mentorship. It lays bare overlooked issues with gripping visual and data-driven storytelling. Above all, it strives for accountability and seek solutions.

  • Carolyn Thompson, Series Editor and an Investigative Journalist at Center for Collaborative Investigative Journalism (CCIJ)
Thomson Carolyn

Carolyn is a series editor at Center for Collaborative Investigative Journalism and a freelance data and investigative journalist. Carolyn’s work has been published by Al Jazeera, the Washington Post, CBC, Radio-Canada, France 24, NPR, News Deeply, and Maclean’s Magazine, among others. Her Forced Out project in South Sudan using mobile phone research, statistical analysis, and satellite imagery won the third place Philip Meyer Award through the IRE in 2019.

She also works as a trainer, with a focus on data and OSINT skills. She has spoken at numerous conferences about her reporting, including the International Journalism Festival, NICAR, MozFest, and DataDriven 2.0. She was a Dart Center Ochberg Fellow in 2022, NewsCorp News Media Fellow through the International Centre for Journalists in 2020, the Visiting Journalist in Forestry at the University of British Columbia in 2018 and participated in the Investigative Journalism Intensive at the Banff Centre for the Arts in 2017.

  • Sotiris Sideris, Data Editor at Center for Collaborative Investigative Journalism (CCIJ) and Reporters United
Sideris Sotiris

Sotiris is the Data Editor at CCIJ and Reporters United. He is an award-winning data journalist, trainer, and lecturer based in Athens with extensive cross-border and collaborative experience. He also serves as a lecturer of digital media at Macromedia University of Applied Sciences in Berlin and as a research associate in the NTLab at the University of Athens. Previously, he worked with the Greek NGO Network for Children’s Rights as the coordinator and chief editor of the multilingual newspaper Migratory Birds, and as a researcher and producer for the Greek national TV documentary series 28 Europe.

His work has been published in numerous Greek and international publications, including Investigate Europe, Mediapart, Tagesspiegel, Daily Maverick, and Premium Times. In 2017, he was a Stavros Niarchos Foundation fellow at Columbia University’s Lede program, where he studied programming and data journalism. In 2019 he participated in the Bertha Challenge, a global fellowship program for investigative journalists and activists by Bertha Foundation.

  • Ajibola Amzat, Africa Editor at the Center for Collaborative Investigative Journalism (CCIJ)
Amzat Ajibola

Ajibola is Africa Editor at the Center for Collaborative Investigative Journalism, CCIJ where he leads investigative projects involving over 40 journalists and 15 newsrooms. He was the managing editor at the International Centre for Investigative Reporting, ICIR Abuja Nigeria, and had commissioned hundreds of investigations some which won international journalism prizes. Amzat is a graduate of Columbia School of Journalism in New York, and he is currently undertaking a PhD in Stellenbosch University, South Africa.
