Fundación porCausa is a non-profit organisation based in Spain dedicated to research, journalism and communication on migration issues.

Its objective is to contribute to the development of fairer and more effective public policies, through the production of rigorous studies and analyses, the training and awareness-raising of civil society and active participation in public debate. Among the activities carried out by the Fundación porCausa are the production of reports, studies and in-depth analyses on migration and refugee issues, the organisation of events and seminars to disseminate knowledge and foster dialogue, the implementation of awareness-raising campaigns and collaboration with other actors to promote a fairer and more equitable agenda on migration and refugee issues.

  • Lucila Rodríguez-Alarcón, General Director of the Foundation porCausa
Rodríguez-Alarcón_Lucila

Lucila is one of the four founders of the porCausa Foundation in Spain and became its executive director in October 2016. In the last 20 years, Lucila has been involved in the creation and promotion of journalism networks and projects in many different ways. She was Head of Media and Communications at Oxfam for Spain and Latin América. Furthermore, she worked as the Director of Communications in the city council of Madrid. She was co-founder of 3500 millones, about inequality and development in El País, where she had a daily column for 6 years. She left El País to direct Con M de Migraciones, a specialized section on Migration in the Spanish paper Público. Lucila joined the jury of n-ost’s award program “Reporters in the Field” in 2017.


  • Patricia Macías, Journalist and Content Director of the Fundación porCausa

Patricia is a Spanish journalist, specialized in migration and gender. She is responsible of contents at the porCausa Foundation and technical director of the International Congress of Migration Journalism in Mérida.


  • José Antonio Bautista, Journalist at the Fundación porCausa
Bautista Antonio Jose

José is a Spanish journalist. Director of journalistic investigations at Fundation porCausa. Works as a freelance journalist with outlets such as The New York Times, The Washington Post or The Spiegel.


  • Pablo Fernández Fernández, Journalist and Head of Audiovisual at the Fundación porCausa
Fernandez Pablo

Pablo is a journalist and documentarist. From 2015, has researched the kurdish-turkish conflict in Syria, Irak and Turkey. He has released two documentaries. In the last years, he has been the coordinator of the Republic and Democracy Institute Foundation.
