Amira McKee

Head of Investigations, Columbia Daily Spectator

Amira McKee is head of investigations at the Columbia Daily Spectator and a senior at Columbia University. She’s currently interning at NBC’s Investigative Unit and spent her summer investigating labor conditions at the burgeoning Hyundai Metaplant, America’s newest electric vehicle manufacturer. At Columbia, she’s covered everything from the University’s growing and untaxed property aquisition in Harlem to the pro-Palestinian protests and NYPD sweeps as they unfolded on campus.

Previously, Amira has interned at newsrooms including NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt and ABC New York, among others. She has also served as City News Editor on Spectator’s 147th managing board, leading coverage of Columbia’s omnipresence in New York City as its largest private landowner.
