Elisângela (Lili) Mendonça is an award-winning Brazilian journalist specialising in climate breakdown and human rights. She is an Environment Reporter at the Bureau of Investigative Journalism, in London, and a fellow with the Pulitzer Center’s Rainforest Investigations Network, a project designed to encourage collaborative investigative reporting. Recently, she revealed how collagen supplements sold in Europe and in the US were linked to vast deforestation and invasion of Indigenous territories in Brazil. Before joining the Bureau, she covered finance for Dow Jones and produced multimedia projects for the Canadian newspaper the Globe and Mail, where she looked at everything from Amazonian deforestation to the spread of the Lava Jato corruption crisis across Latin America. Her investigations have also appeared in Mongabay, the Intercept Brazil and the Thomson Reuters Foundation, among others.
