Journalist, Der Spiegel
Sebnem Arsu is a Turkey-based reporter for Der Spiegel, with a journalism background for over 20 years. She opened the Turkey bureau for the Associated Press Television in Istanbul before joining Reuters News Television as a senior producer. Her career in print journalism started in 2001 with The New York Times where she was the first Turkish correspondent of the paper. After covering major breaking stories, conflicts as well as social and cultural transitions in Turkey and its region, her area of expertise remains to be politics, with a keen eye for issues that relate to gender equality and freedom of expression. She is a member of the European Press Prize, EPP, Preparatory Committee and the International Press Institute, IPI, Turkey board.
