Vera Penêda

Director of Programmes and Impact, European Journalism Centre

Vera Penêda is Director of Programmes & Impact at the European Journalism Centre. She is responsible for driving the implementation of strategy and projects, at the EJC and working on the development of future initiatives. Vera has designed and developed a myriad of training, grant, fellowships and accelerator programmes at the intersection of journalism and innovation that have helped hundreds of newsrooms and journalists across Europe adapt to new challenges and become more resilient.

Vera is also responsible for monitoring the impact and effectiveness across all EJC programmes and initiatives. For the past +15 years, Vera has worked within international NGOs and major news organisations in Europe, Latin America, and Asia helping newsrooms and journalists with digital transformation, the creation of new products, and integration of DEI. Before that, she worked as a correspondent, a reporter, and a multimedia editor.
