Α. Terms of Use

The website forum.imedd.org was created by the civil non-profit Organization "iMEdD - incubator for Media Education and Development – Civil non-profit Partnership" (hereinafter referred to as "iMEdD" or "Organization") in the context of promoting and informing the public about the annual International Journalism Forum.

iMEdD was founded in 2018 with an exclusive donation from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) and its mission is, among other things, the interactive creation of conditions for the development and fermentation of new ideas and best practices with the main goal of promoting and strengthening transparency, validity and independence in journalism with the main concern for meritocracy and excellence. The Organization follows international standards and cooperates with the Greek and international academic community, other relevant international entities, as well as professionals from all over the world.

The iMEdD annual International Journalism Forum is a global journalism event, where renowned journalists, media professionals, academics, journalism students, independent media and organisations from all corners of the globe come together to develop their skills, find inspiration and discuss current and emerging challenges in journalism globally.

1.General Terms

The use of the website and the services provided by forum.imedd.org, including the registration and attendance at the International Journalism Forum, requires the unconditional consent to the following terms of use.

The visitor/user should carefully read these terms carefully before using the website’s services and prior to attending the International Journalism Forum if they do not agree, they should not attend the International Journalism Forum nor should they use the services and their content.

The visitor/user should check the content of the terms at frequent intervals for possible changes as the continuous use and attendance at the International Journalism Forum is a presumption of acceptance of the changes.

The continued use of the forum.imedd.org website constitutes a presumption that the visitor/user has studied, understood and unconditionally accepted all of these terms of use. In case the user does not agree with the terms of use, they must refrain from any use of the website’s services and content.

iMEdD may revise and update the terms of use of the website at any time without any notice.

Any use of the website and attendance to the International Journalism Forum for profit-making and misleading purposes is prohibited. Any illegal use of the website will result in the exclusion from access to the services provided by it.

2. Intellectual and Industrial Property Rights

All the content of the website and its settings, except from the explicitly mentioned exceptions (third-party copyright), which -indicatively- includes texts, graphics, images, photos, data, designs, videos, sounds, etc. (hereinafter content) is an original intellectual property creation and is protected by the relevant provisions of Greek Law, European Law and international conventions as the intellectual property of iMEdD. iMEdD reserves all intellectual property rights with respect of the content and copies created on the basis thereof, subject to the provisions of paragraph 2.3.

The content of the website is available to its users for personal use. The content is subject to changes without notice at the discretion of iMEdD. After the acceptance of the terms of use, non-commercial use and reproduction, in whole or in part, is permitted, provided that the reproduced product is freely available thereafter via the internet or other suitable means and is accompanied by a clear and distinct reference to its source of origin. Any act of reproduction, distribution, modification or use of the content of the website for commercial purposes without the prior written permission of iMEdD is prohibited.

Articles, applications, data, multimedia, tools or any other content of the website that is specifically marked with a creative commons license are excluded from the aforementioned terms. iMEdD may use any type of creative commons license it wishes on a case-by-case basis. For the specific terms of each type of creative commons license, the user should consult the relevant website to which the corresponding links refer. iMEdD may at any time freely either change the type of creative commons license it grants for the part of the website content, or cease to grant such a license. In the latter case, the provisions of the paragraphs above will apply.

3. Links to other websites

forum.imedd.org provides access to third party websites through appropriate links. These links have been placed exclusively for the convenience of the website’s visitors/users and their placement does not constitute any indication or approval or acceptance of the content of the respective websites by iMEdD, which bears no responsibility for their content or for the privacy practices or the accuracy of the information contained therein.

iMEdD is not responsible for the content and the privacy policy of other websites to which it refers through links. Therefore, for any problem that may arise during their visit/use, the user should contact the websites directly, which are fully responsible for the provision of their services.

4. Limitation of Liability

iMEdD makes every possible effort and takes every reasonable and reasonably expected measure to ensure that the information contained on forum.imedd.org is complete, accurate, up-to-date and reliable. However, iMEdD does not guarantee the correctness, completeness, accuracy and reliability of the above information and is not liable for any direct or indirect damage of its website or third parties due to its incorrect or inaccurate nature.

iMEdD, under any circumstances, including in case of negligence, is not liable for any form of damage suffered by the user of the webpages, services, options and contents of the website, in which they undertake on their own initiative and with knowledge and acceptance of these terms.

iMEdD is not liable for any kind of direct or indirect damage to the users/visitors of its website which is due to illegal acts of third parties (e.g. interception or decryption of codes and data), the spread of viruses during the use of the website or reproduction (download) of elements of its content or in problems that may occur during the use of electronic computers.

iMEdD also does not guarantee that the webpages, services, options and content will be provided without interruption, without errors, that errors will be corrected or that all inquiries will be answered. Subsequently, iMEdD does not guarantee that forum.imedd.org or any other related website or the servers through which the content is made available to users are provided free of “viruses” or other harmful software.

Finally, in accordance to law, iMEdD is not responsible for any damage or body injuries suffered by the user during their participation at the International Journalism Forum or during the transfers to and from it even if the transfer service is provided by partners, contractors and service providers of iMEdD.

6. Applicable Law and other terms

The above terms and conditions of use of the website, as well as any modification or change thereof, are governed by national law, European law and the relevant international treaties.

Any provision of the above terms that is found to be contrary to the aforementioned legal framework or becomes invalid, automatically ceases to be valid and is removed from it, without in any way affecting the validity of other terms.

This constitutes the entire agreement between iMEdD and the visitor/user of this website and is binding only on them.

No amendment of these terms will be taken into account and will not form a part of this agreement unless it is in writing and incorporated herein.

It is hereby expressly agreed that any disputes that may arise from the application of these terms and the general use of the website by the visitor/user thereof, if not resolved amicably, shall be governed by Greek Law and are subject to the jurisdiction of the Courts of Athens.

Β. Privacy Policy

1.iMEdD annually organizes the International Journalism Forum.

iMEdD informs the Participants of the International Journalism Forum 2025 that it collects and processes certain personal data, which are strictly necessary i) for the processing of their registration applications ii) for their participation in the International Journalism Forum 2025, iii) to inform them about the institution of the iMEdD International Journalism Forum and the organisation of future Journalism Forums through the relevant iMEdD Journalism Fora Newsletters.

For any processing of personal data carried out in the context of any potential interaction with the Organization, including website visits, the registration process, the participation in the International Journalism Forum 2025 and the consensus on informing about future iMEdD Journalism Fora with Newsletters, the Data Controller is the Organization “iMEdD – Incubator for Media Education and Development – non-profit civil Organization”, whose registered office is at 3A Stadiou Street, 10562, Athens, tel. +30 211 1035100, e-mail: [email protected].

The term "personal data" means information of natural persons, individuals and professionals, such as, but not limited to, name, postal address, IP address, contact telephone number, etc., which can be used to identify the identity of the Entrant, hereinafter referred to as "Personal Data or Data".

"Processing of Personal Data" means the collection, recording, organization, storage, adaptation, alteration, retrieval, search, use, transmission to third parties, dissemination, association, combination, restriction, erasure and destruction of Personal Data of natural persons.

iMEdD collects the personal data provided by the Participant solely for the purposes related to their participation to the International Journalism Forum 2025, to the information on the institution of the iMEdD International Journalism Forum and the organization of Journalism Fora by iMEdD in the future. In particular, by completing the specific Application for Registration in the International Journalism Forum 2025, accepting the terms of participation and final submission, the Participant declares their consent for iMEdD to use the personal data provided through this form (a) to register their participation in the International Journalism Forum 2025, (b) to follow their attendance at the International Journalism Forum, (c) to keep in touch with him/her in the information provided through the Registration Application, (d) to disclose their personal data, specifically their name, picture and work details to the registered persons who have registered to the International Journalism Forum as well as to the relevant with the Journalism Forum application (e) to be informed about news related to the institution of iMEdD International Journalism Forum and the organisation of future Journalism Fora by iMEdD through the iMEdD Journalism Fora Newsletters.

The recipients of this Data are the absolutely necessary staff and the necessary partners of iMEdD, who are bound by confidentiality obligations with regard to personal data, as well as the registered persons who have registered to the International Journalism Forum and the relevant with the Journalism Forum application. Subject to special provisions herein, the Participant's Data will be disclosed to third parties if the Participant explicitly requests it, grants their consent or when required by law or by the needs of the proper realization of the Journalism Forum.

The Participant has the right to object at any time to the processing of their personal data for the purposes for which they have been provided, as well as to withdraw their consent for this purpose.

iMEdD will process and store the Participant's personal data throughout the processing and evaluation of the Application Form, the Participant's participation in the International Journalism Forum 2025, as well as for as long as necessary for the fulfilment of iMEdD’s related contractual and legal obligations. Data processing in any way will be carried out only by authorized persons, employees and partners exclusively for the aforementioned purposes.

iMEdD is committed to safeguarding the Participant's Personal Data. For this purpose, it has and uses trained and responsible personnel who are engaged in this field and has taken appropriate organizational and technical measures for the security and protection of the Data from any form of accidental or unlawful processing. It also has and implements appropriate security policies and uses appropriate organizational and technical/operational tools, such as (but not limited to) anonymisation, pseudonymisation, data encryption, use of firewalls, establishment of authorized access levels, processing by specifically authorised employees, staff training, periodic audits. All of the above security measures and policies shall be reviewed, modified and updated whenever necessary.

The Participant has the following rights:

The Participant can exercise any of these rights by contacting the Organization at 3A Stadiou St., 10562, Athens or [email protected].

At the same time, the Participant has the right to submit a complaint to the Personal Data Protection Authority (postal address 1-3 Kifissias Street, P.O. Box 11523, Athens, tel. 2106475600, e-mail address [email protected]), if they consider that the processing of their Personal Data violates the applicable national law for the protection of personal data.

The Participant's personal data will be deleted when they are no longer necessary for the purposes for which they were collected and processed, at the request or objection of the data subject to the processing or upon withdrawal of the data subject's consent.

In any case, the Participant's personal data will be deleted after the period of time specified in iMEdD’s data retention policy, provided that there are no legal reasons requiring further retention.

2. Information on photography/ videography/ live streaming during the International Journalism Forum 2025

During the International Journalism Forum 2025, organized by iMEdD, photos and videos will be taken throughout the event, to be used by the Organization both for archival purposes and for media and communication purposes to iMEdD’s websites and social media, in order to inform the public and the journalistic community about the event and to disseminate its results. In addition, the International Journalism Forum 2025 may be broadcasted live on iMEdD's websites and/or its official social media.

According to the contents of the International Journalism Forum 2025 terms of use and privacy policy, both the submission of the registration application and its terms, as well as the entry of each registered person to the event premises, is taken as their consent for the aforementioned processing purposes.

3. Consent to iMEdD for production and broadcast of photos and video during the International Journalism Forum 2025

The Participant consents to the use of their image and voice for taking photos and/or producing videos (hereinafter "the Material") during the International Journalism Forum 2025, organized by iMEdD, which will take place both through the physical presence of the public, participants and speakers as well as though iMEdD’s websites and social media broadcast.

The participant consents the aforementioned exported Material (live or recorded), as such or as embedded in other audiovisual material, to be broadcasted live and then to be posted on the above websites, as well as on iMEdD’s official social media pages. Furthermore, the participant irrevocably consents to any editing of the video (indicative and not restrictive: montage, sound investment etc.) and any use for educational and promotional purposes related to iMEdD’s scope.

The participant transfers in perpetuity to iMEdD the full and exclusive right to the production and display of the Material, in all media and countries in perpetuity (indicatively, wireless, wired or satellite television, internet, website), for full version and cut version, as well as through any other audiovisual media that exists or will be invented in the future. The Material constitutes iMEdD’s intellectual property, over which it may exercise any conceivable power and exploit it without restriction as to the place, time, and possibilities of use associated with or deriving from it.

Competent courts for the resolution of any dispute related to the terms referred to in these terms are those of Athens, Greece and the applicable law is Greek.
