The Forever Pollution Project: How a cross-border investigation mapped PFAS contamination in Europe
Add to my calendar

PFAS are toxic chemicals that have been used everywhere for decades. However, they do not degrade in the environment and can lead to serious health consequences. The Forever Pollution Project, consisting of 17 European newsrooms, published the first-ever map of PFAS contamination in Europe, which led to major national investigations in several countries. We will talk about the stories and challenges we faced, how to work with tricky data —which didn’t involve coding— and how we created a transparent tool to deepen discussions about this widespread environmental issue.
