Van Meek Juan Carlos

Director of Digital Innovation and Programming, Al Jazeera Media Network

Juan Carlos Van Meek is currently serving as the Director of Digital Innovation and Programming at Al-Jazeera Media Network. He holds an M.A. in International Affairs from Florida State University and began his news career as the Executive Producer at WSVN in Miami, where he oversaw news programming. Later, he joined Fox News Channel in 1997 and worked as a Coordinating Producer, where he was responsible for opening and managing bureaus in Afghanistan and Iraq. In 2006, he opened and operated the bureau in Athens for Al Jazeera English with a focus on covering Eastern Europe, the Balkans, and MENA. During the Arab Spring, he worked as the Executive Producer in Doha and was later appointed as the Manager of News and Current Affairs Output in 2012. He was also part of the Al Jazeera America launch team in 2013. In 2015, he moved to Istanbul to launch and take on the role of Director of News and Current Affairs for TRT World. However, he returned to Al Jazeera in 2017 to help launch their Digital Division and has been serving there since. Throughout his career, Juan Carlos Van Meek has made significant contributions to the field of news programming and digital innovation.
