Michael Bolden

CEO and Executive Director, American Press Institute

Michael Bolden is executive director and CEO of the American Press Institute. Previously, he was a member of the executive team at The San Francisco Chronicle, where he supervised a range of coverage, including business, housing, immigration, race and equity, transportation, and urban development.

Earlier, he was managing director of the John S. Knight Journalism Fellowships at Stanford University. He also served as editorial director for the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, and for 13 years, he was an editor at The Washington Post. He serves on the boards of the Society of Professional Journalists Foundation and the Student Press Law Center.
