Silva Michele

Co-founder, Fala Roça

Michele Silva was born in Rio, Brazil, and raised in Rocinha, one of the largest favelas in South America. Feeling misrepresented by the mainstream media, she co-founded Fala Roça, a local journalism organisation that uses innovative solutions to empower youth and raise awareness about life in the favelas and their challenges. Fala Roça is a reference in community journalism in Brazil. Michele has represented Rocinha in various international activities, including the ICFJ Professional Fellows program in the US in 2019. Currently, she is an advisor at Fala Roça and is actively involved in fundraising projects.
