Tina Xu

Multimedia journalist

Tina Xu works across video, photo, writing, and design for human-centered stories on how policies affect people’s lives, especially in the areas of migration and diaspora, mental health, civil society, and grassroots organizations. She is a European Press Prize laureate in 2021 and 2022 in the Innovation category for her work on interactive multimedia stories with Outriders. She also received the Excellence in Regional Reporting Award from the Society of Publishers in Asia 2021 for her solutions journalism on addressing the health and environmental impacts of industrial pollution in rural China. Previously reporting from Boston, Bangkok, and Beijing, she is now based in Berlin.
