Documentary Filmmaker

Vania Turner (1989) is a documentary filmmaker, cinematographer and editor. Her films explore loss and compassion, survival and violence. She has filmed humanitarian crises and displacement emergencies in Iraq, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mozambique and the Central Mediterranean Sea, amongst others. She is a regular contributor to Guardian Documentaries and her work has been featured by various international outlets, such as TIME Magazine. Her latest short film “Girlhood”, produced by Onassis Culture, is currently on the festival circuit, and has so far won an award and several accolades. Vania is a graduate of the LSE where she received a MSc in Political Theory and holds a BA in English Literature from the University of Warwick.
